Better data.
Better decisions.

I help growing businesses turn the data they already have into clearer answers, smarter decisions and practical action. That space between your data and your next decision is what I call decision intelligence — and it's where I work.

Decisions
Dawie Loots

Commercial experience.
Data science thinking.

I’m Dawie, a Chartered Accountant with executive experience in insurance, including CEO and CFO roles. I’ve spent years looking at businesses from the perspective of finance, strategy and commercial decision-making.

More recently, I’ve added formal data science training and hands-on experience with Python, SQL, machine learning, analytics and modern cloud technology.

That combination matters. I understand the business question and the data problem — so the analysis doesn't have to stop at a pretty dashboard or an interesting model. The goal is a useful answer that management can actually act on.

Why this combination?

A finance executive knows which questions matter. A data scientist knows how to investigate them. I bring both perspectives to the same problem.

You have the numbers.
But you still have questions you can't answer.

Dashboards are easy to build. Getting from scattered spreadsheets, accounting systems, CRM data and digital activity to a decision you can actually act on is harder — and growing businesses often have the data they need, just not the clarity to use it with confidence.

Profitability "I don't actually know which clients or services are making us money."
Performance "Our numbers moved — but I don't know why, or if it even matters."
Cash & planning "The business is growing. Why can't I see it in cash flow?"
Scattered data "Our data is spread across a dozen spreadsheets and three systems — there's no single version of the truth."
Trust & speed "It takes weeks to pull together numbers I can actually trust."
AI "Everyone talks about AI. I don't know if it would help us, or just be another tool we don't use."

For growing businesses that need more clarity.
Without building a whole analytics team.

I work with growing businesses that have valuable data but limited internal analytics capabilities — professional and financial services are a particular focus of mine. As businesses grow, spreadsheets and disconnected systems become harder to manage, but hiring analysts, BI specialists, or a full data team often doesn't make sense yet. I bring that capability in on a practical, focused basis.

Practical analytics for
real business questions.

The exact engagement depends on the problem. These are capabilities I can bring to the table — not a rigid menu you have to choose from.
